The cool alternative to closed automation.

Melanite is the contrarian bet: that the person who understands the machine should be the one who programs it — not a specialist with a €120/h toolchain. Open hardware, no IDE, fully ownable.

Automation tools are powerful, but each is built for one slice. Industrial PLCs are programmed in desktop engineering tools by trained engineers. Loxone runs on its own Miniserver hardware. Node-RED wires services together on an event loop rather than a real-time cycle. Home Assistant is built for the home, not the factory floor. Each covers a slice; none covers the whole.

Melanite is the unified system: industrial real-time I/O, smart-home protocols, a live spatial 3D editor, and a no-code, AI-configurable interface — on a €50 compute module. Built greenfield, web-native, and AI-first, which is exactly why incumbents cannot catch up cheaply.

It's made by rterials — a design company that builds futuristic furniture and lamps. That heritage is on purpose: Melanite combines design, coolness, and industrial credibility. Black garnet. Black-anodized aluminium. White engraving. No detail spared.
