Perpetual licences, never a subscription

Free at home. Licensed at work.

The Community tier is the full platform for private use. Any use by a company — in-house or in a product you sell — needs a Commercial licence. Tiers differ on use rights, branding, scale and services, never on core capability.

What counts as commercial use

If a business uses it, it needs a licence.

Commercial use is any use by a company, for the company — not only a machine you build and sell. Running Melanite in your own operation counts just the same. The same setup built by a private person at home stays on the free Community tier.

The binding wording, including the 30-day evaluation and education, is in the licence terms.

Commercial licence

  • Machines and products you sell with Melanite inside
  • In-house automation: production lines, test rigs, lab equipment
  • Dashboards and shop-floor displays inside the company
  • Building services and energy monitoring on company premises
  • Lighting, signage and displays in shops, hotels and venues

Community, free

  • Your own home and home automation
  • Personal projects and hobby builds
  • Teaching and non-commercial research
  • Evaluating it in a company: 30 days, not in production

What it replaces

A €249 licence is already a steal.

For a machine selling at €5k–50k, the software is noise. We never race to the bottom.

Beckhoff TwinCAT
€800–3,000
Siemens WinCC

Launch

Licences are not on sale yet.

The prices above are the real ones — what is missing is the checkout, not the decision. Leave an address and you get one mail the day licences go live, and one when the free build is downloadable. Nothing else.

How licensing works

No phone-home

Licences verify offline on the device. Industrial machines are offline by design.

VAT, invoices, 14-day refund

Checkout will run through Paddle as merchant of record — invoices and VAT, automatically, and the full price back within 14 days if you change your mind.

The badge shows the tier

Community shows a “powered by Melanite” mark; a Commercial licence removes it. Who needs a licence is set by the terms above, not by DRM.
